While Archbishop Jose S. Palma got his appointment as the new Archbishop of Cebu from Pope Benedict XVI on October 15, 2010, His Eminence was only formally installed in ceremonies held yesterday, January 13, 2010.

The Eucharistic Celebration and Canonical Installation was held at the jam-packed Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. A luncheon reception followed at the Cebu International Convention Center.

A dinner reception was held the day before, at the Sacred Heart Center, Cebu City.

Archbishop Jose Palma, who hails from Dingle in the Archdiocese of Jaro, Iloilo, served as Archbishop of Palo in the province of Leyte. He succeeds Cardinal Ricardo J. Vidal, who has retired.
