Year 2011 was no doubt a year for photo enthusiasts. With an unprecedented growth in sales of DSLR’s and mobile phones, tablets and computers with digital cameras, I doubt if there ever was any other time in mankind’s history when there were just as many people snapping away photos all the time.

Looking back at the year just passed, still nursing a hangover of the holidays, I was struck with the number of subjects I was able to cover – from birding to weddings and beauty tilts to travel destinations; from the time I had a glaucoma attack and subsequent laser procedure down to baby pictures and awesome adventure rides and treks in far-flung areas.

Thus I decided to compile my favorites and share them with you for a brief replay of gerryruiz images of 2011.

I hope you like it. Cheers!

Here’s a couple of photos taken on the side around Cebu City during the Sinulog Festival 2011…

It was a drizzling Sinulog 2011 but, nope, this didn’t dampen a bit the infectious fever Sinulog brings about…

I was able to take a couple of photos albeit not as many as I would have hoped for, not only because of the gloomy weather but owing more to my having undergone a laser procedure a few days earlier to help correct a problem with my shooting eye.

The intermittent rain no doubt made me miss a lot of great performances by other contingents; oftentimes one would be trapped behind a throng of people seeking immediate shelter.

Here are a few highlights of the Sinulog 2011 Grand Parade taken at the main performance venue, the Cebu City Sports Complex.

No less than President Noynoy Aquino graced the affair as newly-installed Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma led Sugbuanons and the thousands of guests in celebrating the Sinulog Mass, January 16, 2011.

It was a wet Sinulog 2011.

While old folks say a slight drizzle almost always happens during the land procession held the day before the Garnd Parade, this year, it poured liberally drenching thousands of Sto. Niño devotees who joined the annual religious event and flooding some of the city’s major thoroughfares.

Nonetheless, this did not dampen at all the fervor and spirit of the participants.

Pit Senyor!
