Full steam ahead!
This seems to be the battle-cry of everybody working at “The Oriental Hotel – Leyte” – the new hotel taking shape at the former site of the MacArthur Beach Resort at Red Beach, Palo, Leyte – when we visited the site today, December 15 for a first hand view of the project.
Singaporean-backed conglomerate LKY Property Holdings is rushing construction of its P300-million resort hotel; its soft opening has been set before the end of the year.
Developers pushed not just for a renovation but a total reconstruction of a new hotel.
New structures have been erected where the buildings of the old hotel once stood.
An elegant lobby now sits adjacent to the restaurant and spa lounges.
The hotel will also have outdoor pools and fitness facilities.
The new hotel offers new facilities for functions, meetings and conferences all housed in a new building. It boasts of having a 1,000 seating capacity ballroom suited for big conferences and conventions.
This answers the clamor for a large venue which has been a major problem in the region when hosting national conferences.
Targetted to have 105 rooms, The Oriental Hotel – Leyte will initially offer 65 rooms, several of which are suites with living room, kitchen and open balconies facing the scenic Pacific Ocean.
The hotel is expected to be fully operational by March next year.
The new hotel provides a big boost to the growing tourism industry in Leyte which is eyeing foreign and domestic tourists.
The Oriental Hotel – Leyte sits on a 4.9-hectare property and stands adjacent to the historic MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park in Palo, Leyte.
Special thanks to LKY Project staff and to Nhel Baguna of LTIPC.

wow. this is a new add to leyte tourism. a good reason to visit leyte again!
The old place was really getting shopworn. I’m glad they chose to do a full rebuild. Hopefully it’s open for business in January, I’d really want to stay there.
Wow! That’s great! A beautiful hotel in Palo at last. I hope to see an upgrade of the Tacloban City airport soon. Merry Christmas atud!
Same to you, ‘tud! Merry Christmas!
Yeah, everybody here’s clamoring for a new airport!!!
A nice place to stay when I have my vacation in 2013, during my youngest daughter’s graduation at TUA after finishing her nursing, God willing. Merry Christmas, mga Leytenos!
Perfect! Just on time for our Grand Alumni Homecoming in July. Zen

Hi! The latest update I got (today) from one of their staff: “… it would be open around March, hopefully. There are rooms that are finished though. Most of the staff are in Legaspi for training…”
Gerry,

resorts facilities are fully operational.

roland & family
You’re welcome
How much or what’s your rate for a night for a room with a balcony? Are there any cottages also?
Hi Marita! You probably read me wrong; I am just a blogger and in no way connected with the hotel management. Besides, they aren’t fully operational yet and haven’t released their roomrates. Doing a google search and viewing their official site would definitely be your next practical move.
Wow finally a new and very luxury hotel close to my hometown of Tolosa. I will surely check in next year for my vacation. Hope there’s lots of gigs every Friday perhaps live band & dancing or club. And would be great and perfect for Starbucks too… way to go Palo, Leyte
I was disappointed when I stayed there in May. The rooms were barely finished and still smelled of fresh paint. The pool is almost finished but may take a while. Unless you have your own car it takes two rides in public vehicles to get to the city of Tacloban. And at P6000 per night it’s not a bargain.
