With apologies to all the Filipino insurgents and war veterans of years gone by, from the island fighters who fought all the foreign invaders, the Katipuneros, to today’s freedom-fighters – my photos are only limited to those of Manila and Corregidor Island off Manila Bay, taken June 11 & 12, 2011.

Happy Independence Day to all! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!

Among the subjects taken up during recent talks between Pres. Noy Aquino and US Pres. Barack Obama. Caballo Island, off Corregidor, is full of unexploded WWII ordnance.

One Response to “Independence Day: Finding the Cost of Freedom”

  1. Happy Independence day. Nice historic pictures, nice also to see whether we are poor or not, family ties are strong, it seems/shows that this family – all that they have – is in this push cart, but still all happy together. Sad to say the Phil. (& most Filipino people) are very dependent on other countries’ help… how and when will this poverty end…?
