Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam,
Where the deer and the antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day.

Home, home on the range,
Where the deer and the antelope play;
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day.

Everyone has his/her dream farm… a dream house, a home on the range. It’s okay to dream; we can dream, can’t we?

Here’s my dream farm…

“Find the cost of freedom, buried in the ground
Mother Earth will swallow you, lay your body down…”
- Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (1970)

With apologies to all the Filipino insurgents and war veterans of years gone by, from the island fighters who fought all the foreign invaders, the Katipuneros, to today’s freedom-fighters – my photos are only limited to those of Manila and Corregidor Island off Manila Bay, taken June 11 & 12, 2011.

Happy Independence Day to all! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!

Among the subjects taken up during recent talks between Pres. Noy Aquino and US Pres. Barack Obama. Caballo Island, off Corregidor, is full of unexploded WWII ordnance.

Today’s war front: seeking freedom from poverty. A family on wheels, moves on to find greener pastures…

Our eldest sister, Nieves Erlinda Ruiz-Mateo, celebrated her 78th birthday last May 29, 2011 with colleagues from the Leyte Normal School and from the University of the Philippines Tacloban (where she once taught), family, kin members and friends.

It was also our 3-month old grandson, Kenji’s first chance to meet her Lola – the eldest of a brood of seven Ruizes (with me being the youngest).

As expected, I had to snap some shots. Here’s what I came up with… comics!

Mana Linda with her children (from left): Noel Mateo, Marissa Mateo-Salazar, Carla Mateo and Dennis Mateo. Not in photo are Greg (in Cebu) and Emel Mateo (Saudi).

With Mike Banzon and Nani Ruiz-Banzon and their little Kenji.
