The Department of Tourism Regional Office No. 8 had their Christmas Party last Dec. 16, 2009 at the Governor’s Hall, Leyte Provincial Capitol Bldg, Tacloban City.

Danny Boy Ortega turned 50 last July 04 and family and friends trooped to the ARCIVU Hall at Palo, Leyte for a grand celebration.

It was a reunion of sorts for many as Boy and family are now based in Los Angeles, USA. Naturally, Boy’s friends and extended families from the An Taclobanon Association of Southern California were likewise around to wish the Golden Boy all the best.

In an unprecedented sweep of three festivals in a span of less than a year, the Buyogan Festival of Abuyog, Leyte was declared the Grand Champion of the Aliwan Fiesta 2009 Festival of Festivals at the Aliw Center-Quirino Grandstand early Sunday morning, April 26 in Manila.

Sinulog 2009 in Cebu City was a blast!

calle Zaragosa productions was commissioned to document the participation of the Buyogan Festival of Abuyog, Leyte at the Sinulog last January 18,2009.

And, indeed, it was such a rewarding experience for everyone as the Buyogan Festival emerged champion of Sinulog ‘09!

A brief backgrounder for those not in the know: the Buyogan Festival is the current title holder as champion of the Leyte Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival held last June 27, 2008 during the Tacloban City fiesta celebration. The last time Buyogan Festival participated in the Sinulog was in 1996 (?) – more than a decade ago.

Documentation work included coverage of the contingent’s rehearsals as well as other behind-the-scene activities. Our team accompanied the contingent to Cebu, leaving Tacloban for Ormoc early morning of January 15, and taking the fully-loaded slow boat to Cebu (by coincidence, also travelling with us in the ship were the contingents from Dulag’s Tribu Karatong and Borongan’s Karasikas group.)
